This is a valuable opportunity for our Year 10 to experience, in a regulated and safe way, the world of work. The dates for the Year 10 Work Experience program are July 4th to July 15th 2011.

Students are encouraged to find their own placements - it is recommended that they do not use existing part-time employment contacts, from experience a ten day placement is very different to part-time work and former students have ended up losing their part time jobs.

One of the main aims of the work experience is for students to receive feedback in the form of a reference which identifies their knowledge and skills that have been demonstrated in the work place, so  placements where they are solely supervised by a relative is also not recommended.

The deadline for returning 'Own Placement Forms' is January 28th. We work closely with Southwark Educational Business Alliance and the Trident Trust in co-coordinating the work experience scheme. Where students have been unable to find their own placement they will have the opportunity to access the database of opportunities provided by Southwark Educational Business Alliance

Last year 91% of students reported that they were satisfied or very satisfied with their placement, only 3% did not find the experience enjoyable - though we can't expect to be happy all the time!
