Mathematics
Course Content 
We understand that Mathematics is one of the most important core subjects in the curriculum. As such, and in line with the mission statement of the school, we acknowledge that we have a responsibility top ensure that the requirements of the National Curriculum be made accessible to the students in our care.
In Years 7 to 9 the following topics are covered:
Using and applying Mathematics
Number & Algebra
Shape, Space and Measure
Handling Data
The assessment for the GCSE exam is broken down as follows:

Facilities
We have a number of dedicated Maths classrooms and all are equipped with Interactive Whiteboards. We have a number of resources to be used on these whiteboards and these contribute to us being able to educate pupils with a number of different learning styles. We have a full range of scientific calculators and encourage their use at both Key Stages. We also link work done in class with a number of Maths related websites.
Study Clubs
We run after school study clubs for pupils in KS3 and KS4 and also have a programme of Saturday Schools for pupils about to take their SATs or GCSE exams.

Exam Results
This year 75% of Year 9 pupils who took their SATS exams achieved a level 5 or above, this is an 11% improvement on the previous year’s performance. The GCSE results this year were 66% A*-C and 100% A*-G, with the A* - C pass rate a 10% improvement on the previous year’s results. All Year 11 pupils are entered for Mathematics as it is not an option subject.
