Aim Higher

Aim Higher provision at St Michael’s is designed to raise awareness amongst pupils and parents at KS4 of the benefits of continuing in education post Year 11, to further and higher education. We have close links with KCL and all Year 9 pupils have the opportunity to visit the campus. We also have close ties with our Partner Colleges, Christ the King and St Francis Xavier Sixth Form Colleges, and visits to the colleges are arranged in Year 10. In Year 11 our Partner Colleges visit the school to talk with pupils about post Year 11 options and to assist with the application process.

In recent years we have noticed a trend amongst Year 11 to apply to a wider range of colleges, and, in order to facilitate this process, we have combined the Year 11 Target Setting evening with the Aim Higher evening so that both pupils and parents can meet with representatives from colleges and sixth forms to discuss progression routes early in Year 11. Every Year 11 pupil also has the opportunity of an interview with our Connexions PA, Dada Bainbridge, to discuss their progression route from St Michael’s.
